US equities closed mixed Wednesday before rallying in after-hours trading on Nvidia's earnings beat. The S&P 500 finished essentially flat at 7,675.70, while the Nasdaq Composite slipped 0.08% to 26,130.20, according to CNBC. The Dow declined modestly. Investors had braced for a less-than-perfect Nvidia report, pulling stocks lower during regular hours, according to the Wall Street Journal.
Nvidia shares surged more than 4% in extended trading after the chip behemoth reported second-quarter results and issued a bullish forecast. The company expects revenue to grow 70% for its next fiscal year, a sign that demand for its AI chips remains robust, according to the Wall Street Journal. The outlook managed to renew investor confidence in the AI boom, which has been a key driver of equity gains this year.
